Charles Hagen is a photographer, teacher and writer who lives in Brooklyn, New York. Much of his recent work consists of large color prints of details of cars, buildings, and other aspects of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where he lives.
In an earlier project Hagen photographed narrative scenes involving his daughter, Anna, and his wife, Laura Newman. These pictures have been shown in various one-person and group shows in New York and elsewhere, and are included in public and private collections.
Hagen is an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Connecticut. He has worked as an writer and editor for Artforum, Afterimage, Aperture, and other publications, and as a critic for the New York Times and elsewhere.
